Here, displayed in all its magnificent awfulness, is a particularly egregious example of deliberately provocative, sly and mendacious anti-Israel advertising.
I have no doubt that it is being led by the ‘Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions’ movement. I do hope the Board of Deputies of British Jews and the Jewish Leadership Council will investigate and lodge the fiercest possible complaint with the Advertising Standards Authority.
The advertisement provokes particularly because the person who photographed the hoarding reports that it is situated opposite the Brent Cross shopping centre on the major A406 road, London. This is an area populated and frequented by a very large number of Jewish people.
This, as I have already commented elsewhere, is 'BDS' at its very worst. It's a creeping, insidious campaign without any physical contact, let alone violence or even verbal confrontation.
Those behind this poster have employed the oldest trick in the book, used by Lenin, then Goebbels and heaven knows who else throughout history: make the lie big enough, tell it often enough and widely enough and everyone repeats it so much that it becomes accepted, conventional wisdom.
