Boris, the Camberwell Beauty

South London lepidopterists on a nocturnal field-trip have discovered a sub-genus of the Camberwell Beauty.

The ‘Boris’, shown in the illustration above as displaying a blond fringe surrounding an emphatically dark interior, is said to have a maximum lifespan of 12 months.

This species of butterfly most unusually enjoys settling for short intervals in a warm, enclosed human habitat like a wine stained sofa where its flashy, occasionally noisy displays may disturb the householder’s media-savvy neighbours.
