Where Christian tradition advises followers to turn the other cheek, this week a Jew-hater decided to bite one!
The incident occurred outside London’s School of African and Oriental Studies (SOAS) when the victim (pictured right) was allegedly attacked by one of two men at a Celebrate Palestine event being staged as part of Israel Apartheid Week.
The JC.com reported how four members of the Israel advocacy group, Stand With Us visited SOAS to make a peaceful counter-campaign. They went inside the university and chatted amicably with several students. But the atmosphere changed when one man allegedly started spouting anti-Jewish sentiment, even remarking that “the best thing the Jews had ever done was to go into the gas chambers.” No wonder that the visitors said they felt like Jews in Nazi Germany!
A member of the Jewish group asked if he may film him. The man agreed but another man, described as “big and burly and of Middle East appearance” told him he did not have to be filmed or interviewed, then allegedly launched himself at the victim, grabbed his camera, punched him and then bit his cheek.
The alleged victim was taken to University College Hospital. It is understood that the two men, who have no connection with SOAS, were arrested on suspicion of affray and were held in custody at a north London police station.
Later, Manchester-based Joy Wolfe a former journalist and now UK Chairman of Stand With Us said: "It is unthinkable that in the UK people can be prevented from expressing their opposition to incitement, hatred and blatant antisemitism which, given the outrageous comments about Jews this undoubtedly was.”
