Noam Gershony won Israel's first gold medal of the London 2012 Paralympics on Saturday, beating top-ranked American David Wagner 6-3, 6-1 in the Quad Wheelchair Tennis Final.
Gershony, a former Apache helicopter pilot, was paralysed six years ago in a crash during the Second Lebanon War.
This was Gershony’s second medal as he also won a bronze in the doubles tournament, with fellow Israeli Shraga Weinberg.
