I’m unsure what the rest of the world was doing on Xmas Day night, but in our corner of Karmiel, Western Galilee everything sparkled at the super-chic Shavit Banqueting Hall where more than 100 people from the expat-Anglo community gathered to celebrate a ‘Night of a Thousand Stars’.
Members of the Young English Speakers In Northern Israel Group, the Karmiel English Speakers Club, the English Speakers Residents Association and Karmiel Folk Club with representatives from the Nefesh B’Nefesh Israel immigration aid Go North Project team, enjoyed a sumptuous cabaret dinner, raising NIS 3,500.00 (approx. £610.00 / $1002.00) for Kfar Yeladim, the nearby ‘home-from-home’ for disadvantaged children.
Funds were boosted via a raffle and a ‘silent’ art auction of works created by the Marginal Illumination artists’ group. Musical entertainment was provided by Daniella Roman and Dan Crankshaw of Desert Rose Productions and the event was conceived and co-ordinated by former Mancunian Sharon Brody.
